Course Title

First-Year Seminar

Course Description

The first-year seminar aims to build a strong foundation of intellectual and personal development leading to academic and career success. It equips students with the tools and knowledge necessary for writing and encourages them to develop their own ideas, to explore and support those ideas with evidence, to marshal that evidence logically, and to express themselves in context-appropriate styles. Students will cultivate meaningful relationships with faculty and other students and seek a sense of belonging within our University community. Individual sections focus on topics chosen by instructors that enable students to connect the academic content of the course topic to their personal and intellectual growth as first-year college students. Instructors encourage students to see learning experiences both in and out of the classroom so that students take an active role in their education, make a successful transition from high school to college, and get the full benefit of their Susquehanna education throughout their four years on campus and beyond. 4SH.
