Course Title
Anatomy and Physiology
Course Description
Anatomy and Physiology I examines the complexity of the human body and how its form (anatomy) relates to function (physiology). Successful completion of this course will enable a student to apply working knowledge of the human body in a practical setting: every student will be given the tools to help them succeed in a variety of life science-related majors (e.g., medical careers), while also underlining the importance of self-care and personal body awareness. A broad overview of anatomy and physiology will be addressed via lecture and discussion, followed by meaningful laboratory exercises to reinforce the material. Topics covered in Anatomy and Physiology I include the cellular and chemical foundations that underlie tissue and organ function, histology, and the structure and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems. Prerequisites: BIOL-102 and sophomore standing. 3 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours. 4 SH.
