Course Title
Multispec Ethnog: Humans Nature Culture
Course Description
No human is an island. Becoming human is an ever-changing experience that happens not only through entanglements with other humans, but also with nonhuman species. From the microbiota that constitute 90% of the cells in a human body, to the larger species with whom we directly and indirectly engage-companion animals, houseplants, disease vectors, food sources, and spirits, for example-understanding our humanity depends on understanding all the species with whom we co-create our worlds. This class examines our relationships with nonhuman species, and the consequences of these entanglements for all of us. Prerequisite: ANTH-162 Introduction to Anthropology. 4 SH. CC: Writing Intensive.
