Course Title
Greek Culture: Ancient and Modern
Course Description
In order to understand more deeply both Greek culture as well as our own, this course includes preparation for and reflection upon a two-week experience of ancient and modern Greek culture. Focusing on Greek philosophy, literature, architecture, sports, food, and history, we will attempt to access ancient Greek culture and compare it to modern culture. We will investigate important ancient sites and artifacts in addition to engaging in relection, discussion, lectures, and hands-on activities in order to discover how rational explanations of the world first burst upon the scence of ancient Greece. All the while we will ask whether the ancient Greeks still have something to offer us as we try to understand the world and our place in it. 1 SH. CC: Cross-Cultural.
